Job Description

The Role:

As the Lead Chemist, reporting to the Director - Application Lab, Fuels, Lubes, Oilfield & Coatings, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of development of new products, procedures and test methods plus troubleshooting existing ones within their functional area. You will be regarded as a solution provider to internal and external customers as well as work closely with the R&D application Director to map out current technology offerings within and outside SIG product portfolio.

How You Will Make an Impact:

R&D - New Product Development, Product Management Support, Customer Support

• Interfaces with the right stakeholders to translate required structure - property relationships into defined chemistries.
• Work closely with R&D App Director to maintain product portfolio and map out new technologies for fuel, lubes, oilfield and coatings application
• Responsible for the development and sustaining products in Oilfield, Fuel and Lubes and Coatings product lines
• Support alkoxylation of phenol-formaldehyde resin for Oilfield application
• Support customer interaction for Fuel, Lubes, and Oilfield application
• Uses strong interpersonal skills to interact and relate effectively; able and willing to share and receive information.
• Uses deductive reasoning skills; translates a complex set of ideas, issues and observations into a clear and useful explanation; leverages it into product development projects.
• Exhibits creativity and innovation when contributing to the organizational and individual objectives by reframing problems in a different light to find fresh approaches to address business needs.
• Ensure projects are executed properly and in a timely manner.

Project Management

• Monitor project progress and evaluate performance
• Develops a work plan with tasks, timeframes, milestones, and resources.
• Manage stakeholder relationships to ensure commitment and involvement, and to encourage effective collaboration.
• Anticipates and responds effectively to unforeseen problems; identifies improvement areas and resolves barriers to task completion.

• Recognizes opportunities to capture value by linking SI Group technical capabilities with known or anticipated customer needs.
• Ability and drive to act as a partner to customers in identifying, developing, and advancing new ideas and potential opportunities. Works interdependently with SI Group's internal resources to accomplish this.
• Ability to transfer the understanding of how SI Group's products perform in one application to how they may perform in another.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the technical abilities of our competitors and the implications for

  Market.

• Keep up to date on technology trends which are aligned with SI Group market segment strategies.

Maintain Compliance

• Adhere to company EH&S regulations, SI Group Responsible Care practices and ISO 9000 programs
• Ensure all R&D operations are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures and are in compliance with relative laws and regulations.

Creating Extraordinary Starts With:

• PhD (preferably Organic Chemistry) with at least one year of relevant industry experience.
